Homeland HomeHealth, a service of Homeland Center’s community outreach program, has been recognized as the top ranking home health agency in the Harrisburg area by U.S. News & World Report in its 2026 Best Home Health Agencies ratings.

Homeland HomeHealth was earned a patient experience rating of 5 out of 5, and a quality rating of 4.5 out of 5, for an overall rating of 4.75. Ratings were determined by evaluating data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services including patient outcomes, quality of care and patient experience. Measures include timely initiation of care, improvement in patient mobility, and how effectively patients are able to regain independence at home.

“Our number one goal, every day, is to earn the trust of patients, clients and families by providing the highest quality of care possible,” said Homeland President and CEO Barry S. Ramper II. “That commitment extends beyond Homeland Center in uptown Harrisburg and into the homes of those we serve. We are honored that our Homeland HomeHealth team has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report for delivering compassionate, high-quality care wherever patients call home.”

According to U.S. News, the Best Home Health Agencies ratings are designed to help patients and families make informed decisions when selecting care. The evaluation includes more than 12,000 home health agencies nationwide, with only those demonstrating high performance earning recognition.

Home health care plays a vital role in helping individuals recover from illness, injury, or surgery, as well as managing chronic conditions — all while remaining in the comfort of their own homes.

Occupying a full block in uptown Harrisburg, Homeland Center is a licensed not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community offering personal care, skilled nursing care, specialized memory care, and short-term rehabilitation. Homeland at Home, a community outreach program of Homeland Center, provides hospice care (compassionate end-of-life care), home health services (in-home physician-ordered medical treatment), home care services (in-home non-medical daily living assistance) and palliative care (comfort and relief from the symptoms and stress of serious illness).

Homeland’s tradition of care began 159 years ago after the Civil War. Eighteen women from nine churches in the city of Harrisburg came together to consider what could be done to help orphans and widows. In 1867, the group chartered the “Society for the Home for the Friendless” and raised funds to begin operating what today is Homeland Center and Homeland at Home.
