Homeland’s legacy of care and compassion is alive and flourishing because 18 women from nine churches in Harrisburg stepped forward and gave voice to the needs of women and children who lacked a voice of their own.
Like all women of the time, their identities were defined by marriage. They could not vote, hold public office, own land, access higher education or practice professional occupations. Yet their will, faith and determination persevered. Their drive and passion created the Home for the Friendless in 1867, which today is Homeland Center and Homeland at Home.
The 2027 (11th Annual) Homeland Lottery Calendar showcases scenes from the era of our founding, honoring that pivotal time in our community’s history—and the remarkable women who forged the way for our legacy of care, compassion and service.
2027 will bring other vibrant opportunities to honor our heritage. On May 8, the date the charter for Home for the Friendless was signed, we will host an anniversary gala recognizing Homeland’s founding women and the women who followed in their footsteps.
Two weeks later, on May 13-16, Homeland and its partner Gamut Theatre will present Iron Ladies, an inspiring play celebrating the extraordinary women behind Homeland Center’s founding and their lasting impact across the Harrisburg community.
A Lottery Calendar is a gift that keeps on giving. Everyone who purchases a calendar is eligible to be entered into daily drawings for cash prizes of up to $100. For $25, your purchase helps Homeland provide financial support and additional services to residents, patients and clients in need.
Because of your support, Homeland continues to be a home for those who need us most—just as our founding women envisioned. Thank you for your generosity and your trust.
