2026 Homeland Hospice 5K and Memory Walk Returns to Mechanicsburg Oct. 3

Runners, walkers and families from across Central Pennsylvania are invited to participate in the 12th annual Homeland Hospice 5K and Memory Walk on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, at 9 a.m. at the Rossmoyne Business Center, 5000 Ritter Road, Mechanicsburg.

The annual event offers community members a meaningful way to remember loved ones while raising money to support compassionate care for Homeland Hospice patients and families and residents of Homeland Center.

“The 5K and Memory Walk brings people together around two important purposes: remembering those they love and helping care for others in our community,” said Myra Badorf, assistant director of development for Homeland Hospice. “Every registration and sponsorship strengthens our ability to provide comfort and meaningful support to the patients, families and residents we serve.”

Participants can compete in the professionally timed 5K or join the Memory Walk for a less competitive experience. The Memory Walk is wheelchair and stroller accessible, and runners and walkers of all ages are welcome. Four-legged companions can participate, too.

Following the 5K and Memory Walk, Homeland will hold a moment of remembrance to honor loved ones. The morning will also include light refreshments and an awards presentation at 10 a.m.

The top three male and female 5K finishers will receive cash prizes of $250 for first place, $150 for second place and $100 for third place. Cash prizes will also be awarded to the leading male and female finishers in eight age brackets, and all first, second and third place winners will receive ribbons. Additional prizes will recognize the largest team and the oldest and youngest participants, while participating dogs will receive treats.

The 2025 Homeland Hospice 5K and Memory Walk welcomed a record crowd of more than 400 participants and raised over $80,000 for hospice services and benevolent care.

Money raised through this year’s event will help fund supportive services for Homeland Hospice patients and families, including massage therapy, music therapy and additional in-home relief hours for caregivers. Proceeds also support residents of Homeland Center whose financial resources have been exhausted, helping ensure they continue to receive the care they need.

The Homeland Hospice 5K and Memory Walk is made possible through the generosity of participants, sponsors, volunteers and community partners who share Homeland’s commitment to caring for others.

All participants must register. Registration is $25 for individuals ages 13 and older, while children 12 and under may participate free of charge. Online registration closes Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 4:30 p.m. In-person registration will be available on race day from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m.

Register for the 2026 Homeland Hospice 5K and Memory Walk and join Homeland Hospice in running, walking and remembering on Oct. 3. Visit the event page for more details.
